Benefits of chlorine dioxide treated water in poultry farms

Water is an extremely important part of poultry farming for livestock health. A proper drinking water system is very beneficial to avoid any infection in the livestock industry. Chlorine dioxide (CO2) helps poultry farms to manage as well as maintain great quality drinking water.

What is chlorine dioxide water?

Chlorine dioxide is one chemical compound consisting of one chlorine and two oxygen atoms. It is a gas vapour and water acts as its carrier. CO2 is used in poultry farms to eradicate microorganisms present in water. Chlorine dioxide is a water disinfectant and is approved by the environmental protection agency (EPA).

Effects of chlorine dioxide water on poultry farms

·         Chlorine dioxide for poultry treats drinking water let's adequate water consumption of the livestock that can  contribute to the overall health of the animals in a poultry farm.

·         A proper water system boosts the health of livestocks and reduces the expenses of antibiotics.

·         CO2 treated water can also help poultry farm water to eradicate viruses and bacteria present in the water.

·         The death rate among livestocks can be reduced through treating water with CO2 and using it as a hard surface disinfectant or sanitizer to eradicate microorganisms.

·         Livestocks will drink more water because of no water odor problems.

Benefits of chlorine dioxide treated water

Rapid: CO2 kills the bacteria and sanitizes the water fast and effectively.

Potent: CO2 needs small ppm doses to disinfect the water. You can use 2mg/l in water to control harmful bacteria.

Powerful against legionella: CO2 is an effective disinfectant used for legionella control and prevents the microbial biofilms in which they tend to increase. Also, it is popular for a proper biocide and disinfectant to manage the risk of legionnaires disease connected with warm and cold domestic water systems and cooling water systems.

Not sensitive for pH: Chlorine I'd sensitive for pH when its level rises in water become ineffective. CO2 is effective in a broad pH range.

High selectively: Although CO2 is a potent oxidant and has a decreased oxidation reduction potential than other used oxidizing biocides and disinfectants. Its lower redox potential means that it is able to destroy the microbes without acting with other contaminants.

Chlorine dioxide is a potent oxidizer that provides quick disinfection, dissolves easily and is not sensitive towards pH changes. It protects the health of animals in the poultry farms and reduces bad taste that promotes animals to drink more and gain weight.
